Departments Dog Control

Dog Control Officer

The Dog Control Officer’s primary responsibilities include  answering calls on loose or lost dogs. When a call is received, a search for the dog is done, and, if found, the dog is returned to their home if there is identification on the dog. If not, the dog is transported to the Saratoga County Animal Shelter located at 6010 County Farm Road, Ballston Spa, NY.

Please be sure you dogs are licensed and up-to-date on their rabies vaccination. Rabies infected wild animals are prevalent in our area. If an unvaccinated dog is bitten by a wild animal, the dog will be quarantined for six months at the Saratoga County Animal Shelter at the owner’s expense. Our number one priority is the safety and health of our community. A complete list of the town laws can be found on the Town of Galway website.
