Galway Youth Commission Spring Soccer

The Town of Galway Youth Commission Spring recreational soccer program will run from Saturday May 12, 2018 through June 16th, 2018 at the Dockstader Recreation Fields on State Rte 147.  The soccer program is for Pre-K through 6th grade.  It is free to children from the Town of Galway, Village of Galway and the town in the Galway School District that participate in the Galway Youth Commission Programs.  Sign Up forms are available at the Joseph Henry Elementary School, Galway Town Hall and the Galway Library.  No child will be left out due to financial hardship.  For further information please contact Samantha Price, Soccer Program Coordinator at 518-866-4360. 

 

Saratoga County Tire Recycling Day May 22, 2018

The Saratoga County Soil and Water Conservation District has announced it will hold a tire recycling day Tuesday May 22, 2018 at the Malta Town Court area at 2538 Rte 9, Malta.  In order to participate in the recycling program you must be pre-registered.  Registration is required by Friday May 18th.  Please contact SCSWCD at 518-885-6900 to obtain a registration form or email them at clerksaratogaswcd@gmail.com.   Details of the program are:  Maximum of 10 tires that are either passenger car or light truck tires (no large truck, tractor or ATV tires accepted), You must be pre-registered, you must bring a photo ID with you at the time of drop off, tires must clean and whole, payment is due at the time of drop off (cash only), tires alone are $2 each, tires with rims are $3 each.  Again, to participate you must be pre-registered.

From the Assessor

As you are probably aware, the Assessor's Office has begun the process for conducting a revaluation project in the Town.  A public information meeting was held on February 28th at which time information about the possible ramifications and process of such a project were explained.  It was explained the purpose for this project is to regain equity in the Town and make sure all propoerty owenrs are paying their fair share of taxes.   It is not to raise more tax money.

 

The first step in the project will be to send out data mailers to all property owners (except vacant land owners) in May of this year.  Once you receive this information, please review it, make any corrections necessary and return the form to my office by the deadline (June 15, 2018).  Once this information has been input, field review will begin.  When I am in the field, I will be in a care that is clearly marked and identified as the Town of Galway Assessor.  We will be checking data and updating pictures as necessary.

 

This project will not affect taxes until school taxes September, 2019 and Town/County taxes of 2020.  There will be ample time for discuss with this office if you feel your information is not correct.

No Dogs at Recreation Field

Effective immediately no dogs will be allowed on the recreation field grounds.  We will be posting signs stating that dogs are no longer allowed on the recreation fields.  It is appears that some of the public that run their dogs on the field do not clean up after their animals.  This has resulted in dog waste being left in the playing fields where the games are played.  Young players have slipped in dog waste on the grounds.  We also have been notified of the potential liablilty in allowing dogs to be off leash or be present where there may be games being played and congregations of public to watch the games.  Thank you for your cooperation.
